Dr. Jaquetta “Jada” Reeves Ph.D., MS, BSN, RN, NP-C

Dr. Jaquetta Reeves is an Assistant Professor and Nursing Research Scientist at the University of Texas in Arlington, TX. She currently teaches in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation graduate department. Dr. Reeves holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Eastern Michigan University; a Master of Science degree in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty from the University of Michigan; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from Wayne State University. Dr. Reeves was also the first Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar at Wayne State University College of Nursing.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner of 12 years, her area of expertise in clinical practice is in adolescent and young adult health care, health promotion, and STI/HIV disease prevention. She is currently conducting research addressing sexual health inequities and disparities among minority adolescent and young adult populations.

Her research focuses on addressing sexual health inequities and HIV disparities among marginalized minority youth and young adult populations. Her long-term goals are to create innovative strategies that will increase STI/HIV testing uptake and improve sexual health outcomes among at-risk populations in underserved communities.

Nmesoma Anya

is a dedicated nursing student currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington. She has always been passionate about healthcare and helping others, which is what led her to pursue a career in nursing. Throughout her academic career, Nmesoma has maintained a high level of academic achievement, she is currently an honors student and is consistently being recognized on the Dean’s List. She has also gained valuable clinical experience through clinical rotations at various hospitals. Outside of her studies and clinical work, Nmesoma enjoys exercising, reading, and trying out new things, especially food. Nmesoma enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  She is excited to continue her nursing education and contribute to healthcare in a meaningful way.

Micaela Rodriguez

is a 2023 graduate in Public Health at UT-Arlington. Micaela aims to pursue becoming an advocate and educator to encourage health literacy and improve the overall health of women of color in the maternal and child healthcare field. She also has a passion for research within community-based participatory research in underserved areas. She is seeking to work on research projects identifying the root causes of contributing disparities to the health of childbearing women and children of color and developing solutions to enact preventative care methods.  Her long-term goal is to be able to work hands-on with coordinating educational health promotion programs; in combination with coordinating research for the implementation of preventative care and interventions. She plans to obtain a master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on becoming a Maternal and Child Health Expert.
